Chapter 5 : Shanghai and Suzhou
Then, What about Shanghai ? Do things in the order :
Coming from the airport, There are several choices to reach the city, including the metro and the Maglev (maglev train). It is 40Y on presentation of a ticket, the journey takes approximately eight minutes... and it must still take the subway after. So, I took the Maglev.
Hostel Hidden Garden Youth Hostel (to p.d. 40THERE) is situated on Pudong Avenue at the bottom of a small alley. Public areas are very nice, the staff is friendly, but the cleanliness of the rooms leaves something to be desired (even if it was more the fault of my roommates).
Not far from the hostel, always on Pudong Avenue, you will find a good Korean restaurant. No North Korean flags, but succulent dishes of meat cooked before you, each table that has a stove.
The Shanghai Museum is at the height of its reputation, one can easily spend a full day or two half-days, as admission is free.
Otherwise, Apart from a few museums and walk on the Bund (both sides), There is not a lot of things to do in this city (Apart from possibly make a tailored suit, It is in the Fabric Market, Metro Science and Technology Museum).
Suzhou is easily accessible from Shanghai, especially fast train (30min - 40Y). This town has many gardens and alleys lined with channels. You can spend the day if we visit quickly, more if it takes its time.
