Change of scenery, Since it is no longer here I work but in the coastal city of Xiamen, in the South of China, in front of Taiwan.
Once known in the West as Amoy, This is one of the first cities in China to be opened to the outside world, and Europeans have established desks trade and concessions. Witnesses of this era are many, and can be seen in the old town of colonial houses in various States of preservation; but it is especially the small island of Gulang Yu, in front of the central island of Xiamen, which attracts streams of tourists during the summer months. This island, entirely pedestrian, has beautiful villas in their juice, as former consulates, Churches, Gardens…
Xiamen also has one of the finest universities in China, maintained in part thanks to the expatriate Chinese, and that makes a vast field of excursion days.
As any City Chinese, Xiamen has spread dramatically, but here, There is obviously no problem of water shortage, and the roads are decorated on both sides and on the median of beautiful flower beds and shrubs, abundantly watered several times per day, even until the end background industrial zones.
From a culinary point of view, as can be expected plenty of fish and seafood. Many restaurants expose live shellfish of aquariums and fish, There is to choose which you want to eat, cooked how, and it happens to table shortly after ! Ranked specialties, We can mention : the oyster omelette (a little bitter but not bad), pellets which the envelope is in fish flesh, but which contains meat (good if it is well cooked, bland otherwise), or even a “jelly cake” bloodworms based (not tested !). There are also a few dishes sweet coming from Taiwan : Mango cupcakes, “Mochis” (glutinous rice cakes), etc… Furthermore, the Nanputuo temple (the largest of the city) has a restaurant vegetarian where it is sometimes difficult to get a table, and for good reason, It is very good !
